Background A high level of adiposity has been identified in South Asians compared to white Caucasians, and it has corresponded with increased cardiometabolic risk. Therefore, assessing body composition and associated metabolic risk is very important to understand ethnic difference of metabolic risk. The present study aims to assess the body composition of a representative sample of adults in Sri Lanka using the deuterium dilution technique.
